"Hard Feelings" — Liu's most personal art exhibition
Liu's solo show Hard Feelings ran May 14 to June 6, 2026 at Alisan Fine Arts in New York, her most personal painting work to date, exploring motherhood, immigration, and family memory. The exhibition drew features from Forbes and Artnet and underscored the visual-art career she has kept in parallel with acting for decades.

"Superfakes" wraps filming in New York

She plays a luxury-counterfeit dealer pulled deep into the black market; Ken Leung and Dustin Nguyen co-star. Production ran in New York from January into spring 2026, with Jim McKay, Karena Evans, and Andrij Parekh directing. No premiere date has been announced yet.

In Eric Lin's drama, based on a true Los Angeles story, Liu plays Irene, a terminally ill immigrant mother trying to protect her son as his schizophrenia deepens. Liu also produced. The film premiered at Tribeca, won prizes at Bentonville, Locarno, and Belfast, holds an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, and put Liu firmly into the Best Actress conversation.
